Alaska Fly Fishing Lodge

The Goodnews River Lodge is the ONLY full service Alaska fishing lodge on the entire 3 branch river system!

The Goodnews River Lodge is located in a remote corner of Southwest Alaska about 450 miles from Anchorage, at the edge of the pristine Togiak National Wildlife Refuge.

As the ONLY full service Alaska fishing lodge on the entire 3 branch river system, you will experience World Class fishing, as well as the solitude and peaceful beauty of Alaska as it should be. And with NO commercial fishing in Goodnews Bay since 2015, you’ll be amazed by the amount of fish entering the River. It’s just you and the fish. No crowds. No flying to the “best” river. You don’t have to worry about some one beating you to the best spots, because the only other fisherman you are likely to see are your camp mates, or those of the furry persuasion.

If you are looking for an Alaska fishing lodge that puts fishing first, then look no further. Located in a remote corner of southwest Alaska and accessible only by private charter airplane, the 3 forks of the Goodnews River flow out of the Ahklun Mountains, and wander through the Togiak National Refuge as they make their way to the Bering Sea. There are over 490 miles of fish-able streams, braids, creeks and river branches for you to enjoy. Our fleet of jetboats can easily access all 3 forks of the river, as well as the lower tidewater sections. Chrome bright Salmon, most still with sea lice, are the norm in tidewater. These fish are fresh and feisty, and will challenge your angling skills. Resident Leopard Rainbows and Grayling, along with sea run Dolly Varden can be caught in all 3 branches of the river, as well a the numerous creeks, streams and braids. It’s a river system as nature intended, with no trace of human interference besides you and your guide. It’s all here at the Goodnews River Lodge, and it’s all yours to enjoy.

“I want to thank all the staff at Goodnews River Lodge for the fishing trip of a lifetime. All the guides were great. Jeff took us up the South branch and the ride was great. Jeff can handle a boat as good as any guide I have ever seen . Great fishing!”

GNRL has created a first class operation on a river system that is truly unique in it’s quality of fishing and beauty. Thank you and your staff for allowing us to spend a few days in Shangri-La.”

“I have fished across Canada and Alaska and even made a trip to Russia. The Goodnews River Lodge ranks at the top of my list. It offers the complete package, pristine location, excellent accommodations, spectacular food, excellent guides, and last but not least great fishing.”

“My father and I had the time of our life at the Goodnews River Lodge. The food was great, but best of all the fishing was impressive to say the least. The guides were awesome as well. One thing is for sure, if someone asked me where to go fishing in Alaska there would be only one place to send them…It was as first class as it gets…Thanks again.”

Kathy and I had a great visit to the Goodnews River Lodge the week of June 28-July 5, 2023. Many thanks to Dawn, camp staff and guides. The facility itself was more than expected. The website is an accurate presentation of the lodge, especially compared to other fishing lodges of a similar nature. The comfort of the tent style cabins was more than we anticipated with my wife especially appreciating the built-in bathroom. We enjoyed the food’s high quality, the personality of most of the guides as well as the fun activities such as karaoke and ping pong. Fishing was steady. Kings consistently entered the river, on every tide, providing continual new opportunities. We appreciated being able to employ both spey and single-hand fly fishing. We could use the technique best suited for a particular run, catching Kings with both. We will be back next year.
