June 17 – July 8, 2026 Fishing Report
Date: July 10, 2026
Wow! What an incredible first few weeks. The King run is in full swing, and so are we! With a full house at camp, we are anticipating more amazing fish.
As we approach the peak of the Run, we’re expecting large pushes of adult female Kings, followed by large pushes of adult males. Multiple 30 Lb fish are being landed every day. Anglers fishing Spey, Fly or Spin have all had success. The bite on the swing has been hot, many of our adult Kings have been caught on Spey rods. The gravel bar fishing has been exceptional, producing big fish as well.
With mild weather this spring, the runoff period has passed and left us with great water clarity. In these conditions we often see better results with smaller, sparser fly patterns. Black and white has also been a good choice. With rain in the forecast, we are expecting the water levels to rise and the water clarity to decrease. This will provide the oxygen rich environment Salmon love. The current water temperature is around 48-50F, which is fantastic for the fish.
We’ve been having a fantastic time fighting huge bright Chums! They are fresh, and aggressive as ever. A hearty fight on a fly rod. The Sockeye have started to move in, and the Dolly’s will follow. Low numbers of pinks have been reported, we are expecting them to be here soon. Tune in this summer for future fishing reports and conditions of the Goodnews River!
